LunaTeal Jewelry Gives Back-An Evening of Hope: ‘…All You Need Is Love’

It is important for me to give back to the community as much possible. For my first donation to a silent auction, I sought out an agency that had a primary focus on women. I wanted to share in their mission and provide something for the auction that could really help provide funds for their programs and services.

I selected Hope’s Door, an agency dedicated to helping women overcome domestic violence. Hope’s Door is the only agency of its kind in Collin County and is in the town I grew up in, thus I felt a personal connection.

In contacting the agency to make a donation, I was asked to serve on the planning committee to solicit for silent auction items. Of course, there was no way I could say no. Planning of the event is almost complete and what a wonderful evening it will be! Too bad I’ll have to miss it…I’ll be in Phoenix but I’ll be at the House of Blues in spirit.

All the best,
Leslie

Hitting The Refresh Button:The Retooling Continues

The one year anniversary of LunaTeal Jewelry is fast approaching. With that in mind, I decided a that a mini-rebranding effort should take place.

Some parts of the mini-rebranding effort can currently be seen. The blog has a new look and a new banner courtesy of Jamie Johnson of Musk Mallow Designs.

Soon I will debut a new logo design. After several days of researching, making notes and reviewing quotes, today I selected Merritt Beck Media to redesign the LunaTeal Jewelry logo.

The final part of the mini-rebranding effort is a new website. One that is quicker and more responsive to the demands of my customers.

Because of these changes, I have decided to combine the upcoming collections by selecting 35 of the best designs and setting a new launch date in mid-November. Just in time for Holiday shopping! So be sure to stay tuned for collection previews beginning next month.

All the best,
Leslie

Jewelry Care 101

I am routinely asked about the best ways to keep hand-crafted jewelry clean and looking great. Proper care of your pieces is required for your jewelry to last a lifetime. Below are some tips to help you extend the life of your jewelry.

1. Do not apply lotion, fragrance or other sprays while wearing your jewelry. These products can cause discoloration and changes to the gemstones and metals used to create your piece. Put your jewelry on after using any of these products.

2. Keep your jewelry in air tight plastic bags to prevent oxidation. Oxidation is a natural occurrence as air reacts to metals causing a slight color change. It is suggested that each piece be placed on a separate bag to preserve their luster.

3. If your jewelry gets dirty, use care in cleaning it. Purchase & use a jewelry polishing cloth. If a more thorough cleaning is need, use mild soap and water to clean then gently dry the piece. Be cautious when doing this and never use this method on stones that are porous such a pearls, turquoise, as well as many other stones. This will cause permanent damage.

If you are in doubt of how to clean a piece with gemstones, protect your investment by researching that particular gemstone before subjecting it to any method of cleaning.

All the best,
Leslie
